Azerbaijan-Vietnam strategic partnership was commemorated

An event and film screening on the theme “Establishment of Strategic Partnership 2025 and Role of National Leaders” dedicated to the establishment of Azerbaijan-Vietnam strategic partnership in 2025 was held at Hanoi University.

The event was attended by representatives of state and government agencies of Vietnam, members of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association, students and faculty of Hanoi University, Vietnamese graduates who previously studied in Azerbaijan, media representatives, and ambassadors of Kazakhstan and Türkiye to Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Shovgi Mehdizada noted that the foundation of friendly relations between our countries was laid with the historic visits of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983 and Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh to Baku in 1959. It was noted that as a result of the historic meeting of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during his state visit to Azerbaijan in May 2025, these relations have been elevated to the level of strategic partnership, detailed information was provided on the role of national leaders in the establishment and development of historical relations between our peoples, and it was brought to the attention that these relations are currently being successfully developed by the leaders of the two countries.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, Kanat Tumysh, spoke about the historical relations between our peoples that have arisen since the Soviet era, and noted that the relations of the Turkic states with Vietnam are strengthening day by day.

Then, a video clip was shown reflecting the visits of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983, Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh to Baku and Alma-Ata in 1959, President Ilham Aliyev to Vietnam in 2014, and the visit of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, to Azerbaijan this year.

Historical archive photo and video materials dedicated to Ho Chi Minh's visit to Baku and Almaty in 1959 was met with great interest by the participants.

The film "Vietnam Visit", dedicated to the historic visit of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983 as the head of the Soviet delegation, was presented for the first time in Vietnamese and was met with great interest by the event participants.

During the event, a certificate of gratitude from the Embassy was also presented to the author of the portrait of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, a well-known artist, Ms. Van Duong Thanh.
