"Azerbaijan Culinary Day" held at Ha Long University in Vietnam
The "Azerbaijan Culinary Day" was held at Ha Long University in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, as a result of cooperation between the Azerbaijani Embassy in Vietnam and a higher education institution.
The event, which is important in terms of promoting Azerbaijani culture, especially its rich culinary heritage, was attended by the ambassadors of Kazakhstan and Türkiye to Vietnam, Pakistani businessmen operating in the culinary field in Vietnam, leaders and representatives of Quang Ninh province, and other guests.
Rector of Ha Long University Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep spoke about the richness of Azerbaijani and Vietnamese culture, the way our culinary traditions reflect the spirit and lifestyle of our people, and expressed his belief that the joint initiative will open new opportunities for large-scale cooperation in the academic, language, tourism, and "Halal" industry fields in the future.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Shovgi Mehdizada, speaking about the historical friendship established by the leaders of our peoples, emphasized that such initiatives will give impetus to strengthening interregional and interuniversity cooperation between our countries, exchanging knowledge and skills about the rich cuisine of our peoples, as well as implementing larger-scale cultural and educational projects in the future. He noted that the “Azerbaijan Culinary Day” has created an important platform that further strengthens mutual understanding, friendship and cultural cooperation between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Vietnam. Such events will open up new opportunities for cooperation in the academic, tourism and economic spheres between the two countries, as well as contribute to the international cooperation of Ha Long University.
Leadership of the university was invited to the next Vietnam Days to be held in Baku in 2026, and it was proposed to present the Quang Ninh region and the rich Vietnamese cuisine in Baku.
Sahib-David Israfilov, Vice President of the World Barbecue Association, official judge of the World Chefs Association, presented Azerbaijani cuisine. He showed students how to prepare Azerbaijani-style food at the barbecue competition and created an opportunity to exchange experiences with international culinary experts.
At the end, the winners were presented with diplomas. The university was presented with pictures reflecting the historical visits of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983 and the first President of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, to Azerbaijan in 1959, and an Azerbaijani carpet.
The event also played an important role in sharing information about the “Halal” industry, improving the quality of education in the tourism specialty, and strengthening international intercultural exchange.
It should be noted that Ha Long University is located in one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, such as Ha Long Bay, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
