Azerbaijan - Laos relations
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Lao People's Democratic Republic were established on the 22th of May 1995.
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with its residence in Hanoi, is also accredited to the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Moscow is accredited to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs
On December 8-9, 2025, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, paid a visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
During the visit, the first political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Laos, co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Maythong Thammavongsa.
Inter-parliamentary relations
In June 2021, an Interparliamentary Friendship Group for the Western region of Asian states (including Azerbaijan) was established in the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Group leader: Hamfeng Vilaphan (Khampheng Vilaphan).
