Statistical institutions of Azerbaijan and Vietnam expand cooperation
A delegation led by Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the invitation of Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the National Statistics Office of Vietnam.
As part of the visit, the delegation visited the mausoleum, museum and former residence of the leader of the Vietnamese people, Ho Chi Minh.
Photos of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Azerbaijan in 1959 and National Leader Heydar Aliyev's visit to Vietnam in 1983 as First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers were presented to the museum on behalf of the delegation for display.
During the meeting of the delegation with Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the National Statistics Office of Vietnam, it was noted that Azerbaijan and Vietnam are friendly and partner countries that respect each other's interests, and that the upward development of interstate relations is gratifying. It was emphasized that the two countries are interested in expanding cooperation in economic and trade, cultural, humanitarian, education, tourism, energy and other areas, and the importance of implementing the tasks arising from the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Statistics between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam" in terms of expanding the exchange of internationally comparable statistical information reflecting the socio-economic situation of both countries, and strengthening interstate cooperation was noted.
During the meeting, a Work Plan for 2026-2028 in the field of statistics was also signed within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding. It was emphasized that the work to be carried out on the basis of the Work Plan will serve to further strengthen institutional cooperation in the field of statistics.
It should be noted that within the framework of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also had meetings with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, as well as Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Vu.
