Press release on the visit of Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to the Kingdom of Cambodia
On July 21, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, paid a visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
During the visit, the 4th meeting of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Cambodia was held, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, and Secretary of State (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Khuon Phon Rattanak.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the current state of relations, prospects for expanding and developing cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other fields between the two countries.
Deputy Minister E.Mammadov provided the counterpart with detailed information on the current situation in the region, the process of mine clearance in our liberated territories, as well as restoration and construction work.
The meeting also discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), of which Cambodia is a member.
On July 22, 2025, during a meeting with Cambodian Minister of Tourism Huot Hak, it was emphasized that both countries have a wide tourism potential and the importance of developing mutual relations in the field of tourism was emphasized. At the end of the meeting, a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia” was signed.
Within the framework of the visit, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation held meetings with Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Vong Soth, Head of the Diplomatic Academy of Cambodia (NIDIR), Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Khy Sovanratana, Executive Director of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC), Ms. Rothna Buth.
Within the framework of the visit to Cambodia, a meeting was held with Cambodians who studied in Baku in the 80s-90s of the last century, and it was noted that the proposal to establish an Azerbaijan-Cambodia Friendship Association with their participation was supported by Cambodia.
At the end of the visit, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov held a meeting with influential Cambodian media organizations and answered questions about the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijani-Cambodian relations.
