A conference dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the historical visit of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam was held in Hanoi.
On November 9, 2023, a conference dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the historical visit of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam as the head of the Soviet delegation was held at the Academy of Journalism and Communication (hereinafter – Academy) under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration.
The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Vietnam and the Academy, and attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vietnam Shovgi Mehdizada, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Vietnam Kanat Tumysh, Rector of the Academy Pham Minh Son, honorable Chairman of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association Nghiem Vu Khai, Director of Center for Azerbaijan Culture, Science and History Dao Xuan Tien, diplomatic corps along with students and lecturers of the Academy.
Welcoming the participants of the conference, Rector of the Academy Pham Minh Son informed participants about Heydar Aliyev, his crucial role in Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations, as well as historic relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Shovgi Mehdizada spoke about the role of the National Leaders of both countries in the establishment of historical friendship relations between our countries and noted that Heydar Aliyev was a big friend of the Vietnamese people and had always attached great importance to the relations with Vietnam. During the speech, it was emphasized that Heydar Aliyev's official visit to Vietnam in 1983 as the head of the Soviet delegation played an important role in the development and strengthening our relations. The ambassador also informed the participants of the conference about the exceptional role of the National Leader in the supporting education of Vietnamese students in Azerbaijan, the accelerated development of the oil-gas industry in Vietnam, thus in strengthening of friendship relations with Vietnam.
Ambassador also informed about forthcoming 65th anniversary of our friendly relations, which began with the visit of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan and will be celebrated next year, and the events to be implemented in this regard.
Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Vietnam K.Tumysh, honorable Chairman of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association N.V.Khai, Director of Center for Azerbaijan Culture, Science and History D.X.Tien also made speeches and emphasized the historical role of Heydar Aliyev in the establishment and strengthening the historic friendship with Vietnam. Speakers specially noted the importance of decisions made by Heydar Aliyev in period of serious challenges for Vietnam and high respect he had among leadership of Vietnam.
During presentations made by lecturers of the Academy, the participants were informed about the life and activities of the National Leader, as well as the history and current development of Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations.
Then the video-address of former Azerbaijani diplomat, scientist in music Nigar Akhundova was presented followed by a film about Heydar Aliyev and his visit to Vietnam.
