The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Hanoi held an event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the restoration of state independence of the Repblic of Azerbaijan.
The event attended by the members of National Assembly of Vietnam, representatives of Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Organisation, Center for Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies, government structure, NGOs and mass media.
In his opening speech H. E. Mr. Anar Imanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam talked about the history and development of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a legal successor of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic after restoration of the state independence on October 18, 2016. Ambassador talked about January 20 events, aggression of neighboring Armenia against Azerbaijan and its painful consequences as well as the role of national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in founding and developing the country, Ambassador also gave information about domestic and foreign policy of Azerbaijan that being carried out by the worthy successor of the national leader President Ilham Aliyev. Ambassador stressed that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev Azerbaijan has become modern, strong and rapidly developing country and Azerbaijan implements numerous large scale projects in the South Caucasus region. Talking about Azerbaijan Vietnam relations Ambassador emphasized that there exist historical ties between the two countries and nations. In this regard Ambassador specially stressed the role of the visit of President Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan in 1959 and the visit of Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam on 1983 as the First Deputy Prime Minister of USSR. Ambassador also talked about the relations between the two countries nowadays and emphasized that the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Vietnam on May 18-19, and official visit of former president Truong Tan Sang to Azerbaijan on May 13-15 contributed the development of bilaterial relations between the two countries.
In the event Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai, Member of Parliament and Vice President of the Union of the Associations of Science and Technology of Vietnam, Mr. Dang The Vinh, Member of Parliament, Mr. Dao Xuan Tien, Director of Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies delivered speeches. There was also displayed video about Azerbaijan’s history, statehood, economic development, achievements in different fields, tourism, architecture, fine art, cuisine.
