On May 10, 2016 the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam organized opening ceremony of the stand of Azerbaijan at the library of Vietnam National

University on the occasion of the 93rd birthday anniversary of the National Leader of Azerbaijani People Heydar Aliyev. The event was attended by the professors, researchers and students of Vietnam National University, members of Vietnam–Azerbaijan Friendship Organization, Center of Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies and representatives of Media.

In his opening speech H. E. Mr. Anar Imanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam talked about the policy carried by Heydar Aliyev during the Soviet times as well as after the regaining independence of Azerbaijan. Mr. Ambassador emphasized great role of the National Leade in strengthening the statehood and developing the economy of Azerbaijan. Mr. Anar Imanov, gave information about the visit of Heydar Aliyev as the First Deputy Prime Minister of USSR to Vietnam on 1983 and the contribution of the mentioned visit to developing relations between the people of Azerbaijan and Vietnam. Mr. Ambassador stressed that the policy founded by Heydar Aliyev is successful being carried out by President Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijan has become strong, modern and rapidly developing country.

Later, Mr. Dao Xuan Tien, Director of Center of Azerbaijan History and Culture Studies delivered a speech and emphasized that Heydar Aliyev was one of the top outstanding politicians in the world. He also talked about the role of Heydar Aliyev in contributing to the development of Vietnam and said that Heydar Aliyev will remain in the memories of Vietnamese people forever.

After the speeches, videos about Heydar Aliyev and modern Azerbaijan were displayed, the attendees got acquainted with the stand of Azerbaijan and photo exhibition about the visit of Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam and his activities in general.
