On September 15, 2018, in the Republic of Azerbaijan it will be celebrated the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from the occupation of the armenian military forces.

Baku's liberation is one of the most valiant pages and most glorious events in the history of Azerbaijani statehood. Baku, for a long time, was the center of the Azerbaijani Shirvanshahs' state and in 1918 received the status of capital of the whole Azerbaijan. During the military operation to free Baku from the occupants, 1,130 soldiers lost their lives.

After the collapse of Russian Empire and lost of Russian Empire in I World War, many armenian soldiers on the way back to Armenia decided to stay in Baku and misusing from the difficult political situation captured it. Later the army of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic with the help of Turkish Ottoman army, which was sent to Baku in order to help to Azerbaijanis, recaptured Baku city. On September 15, 1918, Baku had been released, securing the independence of Azerbaijan and putting an end to the occupation of this city, as well as surrounding areas by the armenian military forces. After this historic victory the capital of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was moved from Ganja to Baku on September 17, 1918, which started the main stage of                      state-building in Azerbaijan.

Thus as a result of the Azerbaijani-Ottoman military cooperation, the independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was preserved, the Azerbaijani army was created. And most importantly, the genocide, launched in the spring of 1918, by the Armenian detachments against the Azerbaijani people was stopped. A mass grave in Guba province of Azerbaijan, which is an example of armenian atrocities, is one of hundreds of burial places that appeared as a result of the murders of Azerbaijanis and Jews committed by armenians. During this period, the armenian military forces carried out the genocide of Azerbaijanis in Baku, as well as in other regions of the country. Tens of thousands of innocent people in the wards of Nakhchivan, Zangezur, Irevan, in the territories of Guba, Neftchala, Zagatala, Shusha and Karabakh became absolutely innocent victims of armenian atrocities.

Every year on September 15, the graves of soldiers, who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, are visited not only in Baku, but also in other regions of the country. This victory will never be forgotten and will always be remembered with high gratitude of the people of Azerbaijan.
